Pen yr Helgi Du certainly has one of the more interesting names in Snowdonia, translating to "hill of the black hound". It is a slightly more unusual route up into the main Carneddau range from the Ogwen valley. This view is across the Ogwen valley from the lower slopes of Tryfan on what is known as the Heather Terrace.
